An auto mover is an efficient and time-saving solution to quickly handle non-starters at the end-of-line. When you’re looking for a new way to move your vehicles there are a few things that are important to know to make an informed choice. To find the ideal solution for your facility – start your research by asking yourself these five questions.

1. Do you want to push the car or move it with minimal effort?

There’s a big difference between mechanical pushers, towing equipment, and actual vehicle movers. They can all be helpful tools, but when it comes to mechanical pushing and towing, it will still take a lot of manpower to manually push and tow the vehicle – a time-consuming activity. With an electric auto mover, one operator can quickly pick up the car that doesn’t start and transport it to the repair area – without causing an unnecessary production stop.

If you are concerned about the health of your operators, you should use a machine to do the job. A vehicle mover is designed to move a car, a human is not.

2. Where will you use your auto mover?

Think about what you want to accomplish with your auto mover. Do you need it at the end-of-line to move cars that don’t start on the assembly line? Is the repair area close or is it far away? Do you need to take the cars outside or are you planning on using it indoors? Once you’ve got the answers to these questions, you get a better understanding of what kind of auto mover you need.

3. What sizes are the vehicles you’re going to move?

What type of auto mover solution you should choose always depends on the weight and shape of the vehicles you’re going to transport. Do you have tiny cars, SUV:s or trucks on your assembly line? If your company produces small cars now and are planning to keep it that way, then you have your answer. But, many times it is more complex than that. Maybe you are producing both small cars and SUVs, but shortly you will change the design or start producing electric cars that demand a whole new routine for end-of-line operations. Then you’ll need a flexible auto mover to meet the future requirements.

4. What kind of budget do you have?

Set the right expectations when looking for an auto mover. When you’re planning your budget you should think of the problems the vehicle mover can solve for you. If it saves time at the end-of-line, minimizes damage to your vehicles, improves work-life safety for the operators, and has a long life-cycle, then the auto mover will save you money. If it does the job but doesn’t contribute to making the production line more efficient, then it’s not a good option if you’re looking for a long-term solution. The budget is all about your expectations and what you need the auto mover to do for you!

5. Do you need a customized auto mover?

Each production line is unique. Being aware of the challenges in your operating environment will help you understand if you need a customized auto mover. Maybe you don’t have enough space to move your cars in the best possible way, or maybe you produce vehicles that don’t fit the standards of the auto movers you’ve seen so far. Or, you might just want that auto mover in a different color. Whatever your special circumstances are it’s always possible to customize auto movers to meet your unique requirements. In fact, all the vehicle movers we produce at Stringo are more or less customized.
